London Heathrow location guide
Heathrow Airport is a destination in itself with so many passengers and staff travelling to the airport every day it makes huge demands on the transport infrastructure of the area. Currently over ninety airlines use Heathrow carrying over sixty three million passengers every year to around one hundred and seventy destinations.
Whilst a large proportion of passengers will be making connections at Heathrow, many are travelling to London and the South of England.
For the departing holiday-maker it is important that both the outward and return journeys create the minimum stress possible. Whilst little can be done about the traffic situation around Heathrow, at least the careful choice of parking can reduce the potential for problems. Sometimes the choice of off-airport parking can work in the favour of the traveller who is not so pressed for time, a frequent shuttle makes a lot of difference in this respect.
For the visitor arriving at Heathrow as indeed for those who live here, London has an amazing variety of attractions to offer, far more than can be encompassed within a short visit. Most visitors will first want to see Big Ben and Tower Bridge, which have come to represent London.
A good guidebook is essential to help make sense of the many attractions and ensure that that really important one is not missed.
Within relatively easy reach of London are many, many other visitor attractions. These range from the World Heritage Sites at Bath and Stonehenge to Legoland at Windsor or the Funfair at Thorpe Park.
