Newcastle Airport transport guide
By Road
Newcastle Airport is 6 miles to the northwest of the city centre (about 15 minutes drive). From the city centre take the A696 dual carriageway northwest and follow signs to the airport. From the north, take the A1 south to its junction with the A696 and follow signs to the Airport.
From the south take the A1 north around the city, leaving at the A696 as before.
By Rail
The nearest main line railway station is Newcastle Central, which has excellent connections to the rest of the UK. The Metro operates a service directly to the Airport from Newcastle Central, with a journey time of about twenty-five minutes. The Metro also has connections to Gateshead, South Tyneside, the coast and North Tyneside.
By Taxi
There is a taxi stand directly in front of the terminal, taxis take approximately 15 minutes to reach the city centre, depending upon traffic conditions.
By Bus
Service numbers 76, 76A, 77, 77A, 78, 78E and 79 serve the airport from Eldon Square Bus Concourse approximately every twenty minutes during the day. During evenings and weekends the service is less frequent.
By Coach
Coaches operated by National Express serve Newcastle from many parts of the UK.
