Stansted Airport guide
Stansted Airport is the fourth busiest in the UK and one of the major gateways for visitors to London. The arrival of low cost operators has led the expansion of both Stansted Airport and the airline industry in general to the point where in a little over a decade Stansted Airport has grown to a passenger volume just short of twenty million passengers a year.
In 1991 the airport was re-opened following its redevelopment to cater for the planned increase in traffic. The terminal building, designed by Sir Norman Foster was acclaimed through the industry for its open and airy design that leaves the passengers with a view of the airport operations and the surrounding countryside.
The provision of direct rail to the Airport has undoubtedly contributed to its success with four trains per hour to London and other direct services to many parts of the UK.
